Stop Vienna Western Mass

Yesterday evening I received an email from Gloria.TV.
Here it goes:

Dear This burning fire,

On June 26th, the rector of Vienna cathedral, Fr Anton Faber, will celebrate for the fourth time an annual “Western mass”. The event takes place in the context of a music-festival on the Danube island in Vienna.

Most of the participants at the Western Mass are sitting on beer benches. While Fr Faber offers Mass, they are eating, drinking and smoking.
In-between they proceed to receive Holy Communion.

For that reason Gloria.tv has launched the petition http://www.stop-western-mass.com/
We ask you to sign it. The petition implores the Cardinal Schönborn of Vienna to cancel this terrible liturgical abuse or to replace it with a prayer-service.

You can also write directly to Cardinal Schönborn. Send a short English message of disaproval to the following email-address: ebs@edw.or.at

This is the most demonic thing I ever saw!!!
I though I saw everything with the people of  "the spirit of Vatican II" but these ones go even further. This is blasphemy !
We must do something!
See this video.

In the video the Mass (if you can call it that) is just a part of the "entertainment" offered at the concert! Rock musicians playing religious music and a Michael Jackson song! It's sacrilege. Father Faber is a complete and utter fool who shows no respect whatsoever for the solemnity of the Mass. He should be defrocked and, if Cardinal Schonbrun did give his approval, then he should suffer the same fate as Faber.

It's hard to believe that the Cardinal gave his approval.
About that priest, there is something really wrong going on, he should have some psychiatric treatment.

P. I understand what you mean but I don't think he needs his head examined - in the video he's convinced that this is the "modern" way of doing things". Faber appears to have taken it upon himself to "bring the Catholic Mass up-to-date". The only other possible explanation is that just before organising this abortion of a "mass", he climbed a tree and promptly fell out of it - hitting every branch on the way down!

Well said, Felicity!

After some careful thought, I e-mailed the Cardinal of Vienna. He isn't going to like what I've said (if he reads it) but tough luck - he should have intervened earlier. Looking on Google, it would appear that Faber openly courts controversy .... in other words, he's nothing more than an attention-seeker. Faber should direct his energies towards more noble causes.
